Including my parents' suggestions, I redrew the floor plan with more generous dimensions.  I was then nearing the end of my freshman year in high school.

My plan, shown below, also added extra storage closets to the garage, the master bedroom, and a hallway.  Our house would have a basement (unlike the Georgia prototype), so I included access stairs from both the utility room and the back yard.

(TEXT CONTINUED BELOW)

I specified a colonnaded front porch with a curved bow window, a feature that we had seen and liked elsewhere.  Any my own bedroom (room #8) grew from a cramped 11½ by 11 feet to a comfortable 16 by 12.

Our contractor used my plan to make his working drawings.  The house was essentially built to these specifications, except for rearrangements of some fixtures and appliances.
