Twin
Gables had large windows in the living room and family room, but
elsewhere the fenestration consisted of small pairs of casements in a
horizontal row. This view is from December 23; later,
decorative shutters would flank these windows and make them seem
larger. However, their size and location was designed not for
exterior artistic effect but by a practical rule: in each room,
place a window in the center of the each outside wall. Because
the rooms were of differing sizes, the windows were not evenly
spaced. Also, the bathroom windows were narrower than the others.
