Here
are some highlights from a large cache of old photographs. The
Buckingham and Thomas families must have loved to take pictures, but
unfortunately they didn't always mark them to indicate the date or
the people. Therefore, in writing the captions for this
gallery, I've made my best guess.
I
inherited these photos, except for this first one, which comes from
my second cousin Linda (Buckingham) McAleer. It shows the
family of her great-great-grandfather, who was my great-grandfather
John Thomas "Tommy" Buckingham. He's the seated
man. Opposite him is his wife Mary Curtis Buckingham.
Seated between them is my grandfather Harry. Their three
daughters stand behind them. Their names were Nora (born 1878), Martha
(born 1873), and Elizabeth or "Lizzie" (born 1880).
I'm guessing those are the correct names from left to right.

This
photo was probably taken about 1895. An earlier portrait
family, plus a younger daughter who did not survive, in front of
their home on Curtis Ridge in southeastern Ohio.
