Though
you wouldn't know it from the preceding group of employees,
apparently there were spiffy "Chevrolet service technician"
uniforms available to the guys at the garage. Here my father
wears one alongside a 1938 truck.
Another
copy of this photo has shown up on another website, labeled as
In front of Shoemaker Chevrolet looking toward Shelby on Main.
Below,
Ive inserted the old picture into its appropriate place in
another recent Google Street View of Main Street. The building
behind the tree on the right appears to be the former aforementioned
M.S. Myers Machine Shop & Garage. |

The
photo of my father is dated Friday, February 4, 1938. Was that
his last day of work in Falmouth?
Later
that month, he had a new job in Cambridge, Ohio, where he was
introduced to the 25-year-old telephone operator Ann Buckingham on
February 28, 1938. He would marry her after a courtship of
2½ years.
