COLORADO
In my travels
with baseball's Pittsburgh Pirates since 1987, I had visited all the
National League cities.
But the
KDKA-TV traveling team had a new destination in 1993. The
Colorado Rockies had joined the league.
Below, at Mile
High Stadium in Denver, you see the members of our band. I'm on
the left, with audio engineer Bill Schnack, director Brad Risch, and
producer Bill Shissler on the right.

We
didn't televise every game the Pirates played in Denver, so there
were some free days. We headed to the mountains to play tourist.
Bill
brought his camera. Here are 12 of his photographs.
(To
explain the first one: Bill took two shots of this
precariously balanced rock in the Garden of the Gods, and I couldn't
resist combining them into a 3D
stereoscopic view.)

Any pictures
labeled 3D are
stereoscopic anaglyphs, using the system that you may have seen in a
couple of Sports Illustrated issues in 2000. For the
three-dimensional effect, view them with a red filter over your left
eye and a cyan (blue-green) filter over your right eye.

The
next five pictures were taken at Montgomery Reservoir south of
Breckenridge (39°21'23"N, 106°04'23"W).
