These
are the triax connectors on those panels. They should be male
connectors, which will mate with the female end of the triax cable
while the male end of the cable goes to the truck. I've
included this extreme closeup because we had a difference of opinion
as to whether these actually are male connectors. If they
aren't, we'll have to use some sort of adapter. Video guys,
what do you think?

Matt
Wasilco responds, in part: Those triax are female at the
I/O. This is bad. There is no TV truck in the world that
carries that many triax turnarounds. Pitt is going to have to
make the changes themselves. I wish them luck. What sex
are the triaxes on the arena floor? Those should
be females.
To
which I respond: As far as I know, the connectors on the
arena floor are okay. It appears that every panel-mount
connector in the bulding is female. |
We
could tell that all the audio connectors are female, so we'll
have to use turnarounds.
2009
update: In practice,
we mostly avoid using this impractical connector panel and instead
run cables all the way from the truck to the arena floor.
2012
update: A "Remote Unit Form" from ESPN Regional
Television advises that the house {i.e., the Petersen Events Center)
"provides triax turnarounds because the triax was installed wrong." |
