My
father Vernon Thomas was stationed at Chabua in northeastern India
during the final year of World War II. To read the story, click here.
The
Bon Ton Studio in Cambridge, Ohio, made the portait at the right in
1943, before he went overseas. It's actually a black-and-white
photograph that was then tinted, in the style of the day much
as I have "colorized" several of the old black-and-white
photos on this website.
But
my father brought back a few actual color photographs from
Chabua. Click on any of the thumbnails above. |
