a young man, I wrote often to some of my friends from college.
Much of this correspondence was with two young ladies. One was
my age and, like me, a physics major; the other was two years younger
and, like me, hung out at the college radio station.
I used a
typewriter. I kept not only their letters (which I won't
reproduce here, of course) but also carbon copies of mine,
which serve as a sort of diary of that era.
edited excerpts from my letters, leaving out the overly personal
parts. I've arranged them not only chronologically but also
thematically in the following "threads," each on a single
topic. So far, I've redacted only the letters from the years
1969 through 1980.
