The
First Methodist Church was experimenting with splitting up into
small groups and meeting in homes for Communion, as had been the
practice in the early years of Christianity. On February 17,
1964, we hosted pastor John Wagner
and about seven of our neighbors.
In
our living room, we had returned the green chairs and round table to
their original location in front of the bow window, but there was
still plenty of space for the communal table with the loaf of bread
and the glasses of grape juice. (This photo, originally in
black and white, has been colorized.)
